Why Icon Rocklear
Rocklear is a liquid armor layer applied by hand that bonds directly to your clear coat and cures into a hard, glossy shell. Because it becomes part of the paint system instead of sitting on top of it, it holds its gloss, resists impacts that would chip ordinary coatings, and keeps washing simple for years.
The Technology
Rocklear's I.C.E. Technology — Interlocking Coating Encryption — is what separates it from conventional ceramic coatings. Instead of a thin layer resting on the paint, the coating interlocks with the clear coat as it cures, forming one encrypted, cross-linked surface.
That interlocked structure is why Rocklear can be applied up to 63 microns thick and deliver 75× the impact resistance of ceramic — while staying optically clear, so orange stays orange and every factory color reads exactly as it should.
The coating locks into the clear coat at a molecular level rather than floating on top of it, so it can't delaminate or wear away in patches.
A single hand-applied layer builds real thickness — up to 63 microns — giving stone chips and scratches something substantial to hit before they reach your paint.
The cross-linked finish seals the paint against UV, oxidation, road salt, and chemical staining, preserving gloss and color for the life of the warranty.
Everyday Protection
Highway gravel, winter salt, summer sun, and tight parking lots all take a toll. Rocklear is the layer that takes the hit instead of your paint.
Up to 63 microns of cured coating absorbs and deflects the small stone impacts that would chip straight through a thin ceramic layer. For larger rocks on high-impact areas like the front bumper, PPF remains the stronger choice — but no protection is bulletproof: we've seen large rocks tear through PPF too. Running with no protection at all is what turns everyday road debris into a disaster.
Excellent scratch and scuff resistance with PPF-like self-healing properties — light marks and swirls relax and fade with ambient heat instead of living permanently in your clear coat. Most scratches can be polished out and repaired without cutting through the coating, preserving your original clear coat. Unlike PPF, which typically requires replacing the film on the entire panel section, Rocklear is a repairable coating.
Sealed against ultraviolet exposure and oxidation, so paint keeps its depth and color instead of chalking and fading over time.
Ohio winters coat everything in salt and brine. The slick Rocklear surface sheds grime and rinses clean with far less effort.
Insects, tar, and tree sap sit on the coating — not in your clear coat — and wash off before they can etch the finish.
That just-detailed depth doesn't wash away in a season. The gloss is the coating itself, and it's warranted for 15 years.
Head to Head
Ceramic coatings have their place — but they were never built to stop a rock chip. Here's how the two compare where it matters.
| Icon Rocklear | Typical Ceramic | |
|---|---|---|
| How it protects | Liquid armor that chemically bonds and interlocks with the clear coat (I.C.E. Technology) | Thin layer that sits on top of the paint surface |
| Thickness | Up to 63 microns | Typically only a few microns |
| Impact resistance | 75× that of ceramic — real defense against rock chips | Minimal chip protection; mainly chemical and UV resistance |
| Warranty | 15-year manufacturer warranty | Often 2–5 years, varies by product and installer |
| Applications | One application — no annual reapplication | Frequently needs boosters or reapplication to maintain claims |
| Look | Deep, amplified gloss with true factory color | Glossy, but depth fades as the thin layer wears |

It's backed by a 15-year manufacturer warranty with a single application. There's no annual reapplication, no required boosters, and no maintenance package you have to buy to keep the warranty valid.
No. There's nothing to peel, lift, or bubble. Rocklear is a liquid coating that chemically bonds to your clear coat and cures into a hard protective layer up to 63 microns thick, using I.C.E. Technology to interlock with the paint.
Thickness and impact resistance. A typical ceramic layer is only a few microns thick and offers minimal chip protection. Rocklear delivers 75× the impact resistance of ceramic, which is why it's the better answer for rock chips and road debris — with a longer warranty to match.
It makes the finish look deeper and glossier, but it does not change your color. Rocklear is optically clear and keeps the factory color true — an orange car stays orange, with more depth and reflection.
Small rock chips (not large rocks), most scratches and scuffs, swirls, UV damage and fading, road salt and grime, bugs, tar, and loss of gloss over time. It's designed for daily-driven vehicles in Northeast Ohio conditions, not just garage-kept show cars.
